…… A vital sporting legacy which had helped produce Club, County and International Cricketers from the local region has been lost forever ……
…… The local Town Council of Sevenoaks have sold off the long standing Indoor Cricket School beside the Rugby Club for Property Development.
In a statement made by the Member of Parliament for Sevenoaks and Swanley making reference to the hosting of Olympic events and training in the area – Sevenoaks is a SPORT LEGACY REGION.
This meant an implicit duty to preserve and maintain all sports facilities for the benefit of the local and wider community.
Regional sports facilities are currently under considerable strain of undersupply whose scarcity leads on consequently to restrictive availability and premium pricing. Few more so than cricket.
The Indoor Cricket School was a crucial facility which, in the past had benefited schools, clubs, individuals, coaches, plus regional and district cricket bodies with its 24/7-365 days availabilty dedicated specifically to cricket at affordable cost.
